Mercedes Mone wins independent women’s title in Austria

Mercedes Mone has added another belt to her collection.
AEW’s TBS Champion made a surprise appearance on Friday in Pratercatchen, a wrestling event in Vienna, Austria. She defeated Lexa Valo and Mila Smidt in a three-way match to win the EWA Women’s Championship.
“You can call me 5 beltz Mone!” she wrote on social media.
Fan footage showed Mone exiting from a car and entering the ring prior to the match as a surprise.
After the win, Mone asked fans on social media where she should go next. One suggested regaining the IWGP Women’s Championship, with Mercedes agreeing. That title is currently held by Syuri, who won the championship from Mayu Iwatani in April shortly before the latter left Stardom to join Marigold.
Mone is currently set to challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Championship at All In on July 12. She currently holds the TBS Championship and the Undisputed British Women’s Championship that is recognized by RevPro. She defeated Jamie Hayter to win the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament last month at Double or Nothing.
